amBX with iTunes

“Hurrah, amBX with iTunes” I hear you cry and for those that want to know how I have given a quick guide below and a video showing it in action. Although amBX doesn’t provided as vibrant a set of effects with iTunes as it does for WinAmp or Windows Media Player it is still pretty good if you want to add some colour to your huge playlists. For parties I would still recommend using the visualiser for WMP as the amBX plugins provide a greater variety of colours and with a more frequent change.

Regardless of that, to get your amBX kit working with iTunes you need to do the following:

1) Ensure that the amBX Application Manager is loaded

2) Load iTunes and go to the “View” menu and select “Show Visualiser”.

3) When you start the visualiser the amBX Application Manager should give a notification that a new application has been added. Click the “Gaming” tab on the manager and find the iTunes option and change te drop-down menu to “Dynamic” rather than “Moderate”.

4) To have the amBX lights whilst playing music in iTunes close the visualiser, create the playlist you want and then re-open the visualiser and hit play. This should then play through the playlist using the visualiser and create different lighting effects with your amBX kits.

Also, it is important to note it is always good to keep updated, so ensure you have the latest version (3.4.1) of the amBX FX Generator.
